Oh very straight forward and easily added to my data. So easy, in fact, I added it to 2 of them and have only just noticed!

    Walter Claude Chilvers
, born 25th Nov 1888, Dickleburgh, Depwade (taken from 1939 Register, Births Mar 1889 Chilvers Walter Claude Depwade 4b 229 and Parish Baptismal record) Father Frederick Harold (Harry) Chilvers, Mother Emily Bartram. Census records 1891-1911 and 1939 was shown as single, at the home of Ellen M. Feavearyear, who is also shown as single and undertaking Domestic Duties. taken from 1939 Register .

Walter Charles Chilvers born 23 March 1890, Brockdish, Depwade, (
England, Norfolk, Parish Registers (County Record Office)
    Name Walter Charles Chilvers
    Event Type Christening
    Event Date 25 May 1890
    Event Place Brockdish, Norfolk, England
    Gender Male
    Birth Date 23 Mar 1890
    Father's Name Walter Chilvers
Mother's Name Rachel Chilvers (nee Drewmilk)
    Census records 1891-1911.

So, who died aged 62 March Quarter 1951 Depwade 4b 557? Walter Charles, born 23 May 1890 or Walter Claude born 25 November 1888? As the death transcription shows 1889, it doesn't help much.

My instinct is telling me that it is Walter 1888.

    This is based upon:

    > him being in the 1939 Register - but I have yet to find Walter 1890 - who could well be off in the armed services so not counted...

    > there is the death of a Walter C CHILVERS in the Brent registration district, December 1965 (5a/281) aged 75, meaning he would have been born in 1890, rather than a couple of years earlier.

There is a Walter Charles Chilvers in the National Probate Calendar 1966. His address was 1 Rosemont Road, Acton, and he died 21 December 1965. This might help.

Walter 1890 was a carpenter, whereas Walter 1888 was a farm labourer.
Looking on the 1939 Register, I have found a Walter C CHILVERS, carpenter, living in Acton - and with a recorded DOB of 23rd March 1891! :D This only shows on the original as the index has it as 1915. (I've sent in a correction)

Edited to add: don't fret that it says 1891 instead of 1890. I have seen others that are a year out - the day and month are correct, though.

    Ta-dah! :D

Thank you. Nothing like a bit of wise counsel to help unconfuse the easily confused!
