Walter Skilton was christened 11 December 1870 at Lambeth, to parents Edward and Caroline Skilton He appears in the 1871 census as age 6 months living with parents Edward and Caroline Skilton at 27 Carlisle Street, Lambeth, Surrey Then after this there is no trace in any other census. I've also searched in FreeBMD for births, marriages and deaths - Nothing found. His parents and siblings are all traceable, it's just Walter who is missing. I think that his Christian names were actually Walter Thomas and have checked as this as well. I did find a reference to Walter Skelton age 44 serving in 1914 in the 3rd Batallion,East Surrey Regiment, giving his DOB as 1870 in Camberwell,Surrey, His parents and other Skiltons moved around Lambeth, Camberwell areas. So maybe this is the missing Walter and got his place of birth muddled? But if so where was he between 1871 to 1914? Can anyone help with this puzzle please??
