    Never thought of that. Sadly his army records are in those of the “Burnt Records” and lost forever.

    I wonder if he was killed in defending the Suez Canal. If so, it could well be that his body was brought over to Greece for burial as being the closest non-enemy territory and where troops were stationed.

    Just a thought....

    He appears in the Register of Soldier's Effects on Ancestry, where it says his place of death was Mudros. Apparently there was a hospital ship named Media stationed there

    Looking on TNA, Ancestry & FMP, I found Ernest.

    Name: Ernest Hotchkiss
    Regiment or Corps: Royal Field Artillery
    Regimental Number: 42968

    But who is This

    He shows up on TNA & Ancestry, but doesn't show up on FMP

    He is on FOLD3 with just a medal card (but then FOLD3 is own by Ancestry)
