Charles le Jeune Jaques was born in 1850 in Spitalfields, but I can't find when he went to Australia. The last time I could find him in London was in the 1861 census at Bancrofts School in Stepney. Have not been able to find him in the 1871 census. The first I can find of him in Australia is in the Victorian Government Gazette in 1872 as a shareholder. He marries in 1873 and again in 1876 after his first wife dies. He has a number of children and dies in Victoria in 1922. So the time frame is between 1861 and 1872. A brother went to Australia in 1854.

He may have applied for a passport in Dec 1861 (Index to Register of passport applications, FMP). Charles Jaques - could be any one of a number of Charles Jaques, but it's around the right time.

Thanks for looking BH. He was only 10 then, maybe his brother went back to England for him. Did they issue passports to children then, probably not.

The only one I could find was the one found by BH. I did find the death date of his second wife 7th December 1911 at 57 Waltham Street, Flemington. But that doesn't help .
