Robert first appears with this family on their arrival from Liverpool to New York in November 1851. Then he disappears. He's not with them in the English 1841 census Piece 673, Book 19, Folio 41, Page 75 and the 1851 English census HO107, Piece 2177, Folio 27, Page 47. He's not with the family in the 1855 Watertown, Jefferson County, New York census and I can't find him anywhere else in a US census, that may be him.

He might have returned to England, but I cant find anything to point me that way. It doesn't help that I don't where in England he was born.

Any help would be appreciated as this is another Scott that is making my head spin.o_O:confused:

For anyone looking, the ship is the James Wright & he's transcribed as Robents Scott aged 13.

Am I right in thinking that the ages are out on the passenger list? John is shown as aged 12 (1839) but his 1836 baptism as John Thomas Scott gives his DoB as 10 Dec 1835.

Robert is older than John, so more likely to be born just before or after the 1834 marriage perhaps.

I don't have time to do a search today. Some ideas for others to try:
U.S. census in 1860 is spotty. Try 1870 and later. Also look for soldiers and sailors list from Civil War. He's the right age to have served. Another thought that crossed my alleged mind, is to look for him in Canada. Wish I had time to help on this one. Happy hunting!

Would it be worth looking in Massachusetts. Mary Ann age 3 on the 1855 census was born there c1852. They were in Jefferson only 2 years.

I tried looking in MA and NY, but had no luck. Might give it another go tomorrow.

I've even looked on Scotlands People as his father was born in Scotland.
