Any help with deciding which baptism the line

"Thus far taken into Court"

Refers to? or is there some other reason this would be in a list of baptisms in a church?

I do not know, but could it be a term where the previous baptisms have been submitted to the bishop, or archdeacon - does the date give any clue? (ie quarter day)

Dates of the baptisms 10 Aug 1766 and 20 Sept 1766 so not a Quarter (if I have my calendars right) Thought BTs had to be sent within a month of Easter so this would be late but i suppose not unheard of

I have no doubt that this refers to BTs or something similar, and I have sometimes seen them with rather random dates, rather than the more usual 25 March - 24 March.

BTs were often handed in at the visitation (when the bishop or archdeacon went round the diocese for this and other business), so possibly some parishes simply listed all those happening between one visitation and the next. In a large diocese with a lot of parishes or deaneries to get round, the visitations might well drag on for a few months.

If you can locate the BTs for whichever parish it is and look a few years either side, you might get a clue as to what was going on.
