Walter GOLDSMITH was born on 19th August 1887 in Ninfield, Sussex. The family moved into Surrey and Walter signed up to fight in WW1 on 29th February 1916. However, he was discharged on 19th May as he had epilepsy. His pension records shows that his next of kin at this time was his father Caleb GOLDSMITH of Frenches Road, Redhill, Surrey.

Move forward 20-odd years to 1939 and Walter is living at 49 Coleridge Road, Blackpool ***, Lancashire and is recorded as a Master Painter. Along the way he has gathered a wife - on the 1939 register (Ref: RG101/4241E/013/35) it looks like her name is Sarah with a date of birth of 2nd March 1885.

The marriage should have taken place some time between 1916 and 1939, but I have no idea when or where. Looking on FreeBMD, there are none that appear to be him - he was just plain Walter with no middle name or initial and those that are listed took place before he was born. o_O

All help gratefully received in tracking down the nuptuals. :)

    Thank you.

    *** changed from Blackburn

Do you think Ruby C Kydd (Graham) could be Sarah's daughter?
No luck in finding a Walter Goldsmith to Sarah marriage though (not tried Scotland though).

Edit - the Kydd/Graham marriage appears to be 1960 in Manchester - so no children to look for:(

She might be but I have not found a registration for Ruby's birth either. :(

Sarah would have been aged 22 when Ruby was born so may well have been married - or single.....

No luck here I'm afraid. I've also tried to work out who Ruby C Kydd might have married first, as she is shown as married in the 1939 register. Probably an impossible task not knowing her birth name or even where she was born, but thought I'd give it a go. Nothing obvious I'm afraid.

Oh Wow! You have been really busy whilst I was in the arms of Morpheus. I will have a further rummage using this information and see what I can come up with. :D

(Why did I put Blackburn instead of Blackpool? Thanks @Chimp :) )
