    Good Afternoon all,

I am looking for help in finding the above in the 1841 census. I have drawn a blank on all the sites I hold a subscription for.

    William Davies b: 02/05/1801 Berriew, Montgomeryshire d: 18/08/1873

I have found them on the 1851 :-

    Registration district Newtown
    Sub-registration district Kerry
    ED, institution, or vessel 2f
    Piece 2497
    Folio 339
    Page number 50
    Household schedule number 207

His wife Jane was born abt. 1801 in Bettws, Montgomeryshire. From his sons diaries I know they lived on Bryn Street in Newtown in the parish of Llanllwchaiarn when he was born in 1845. His older brother born in 1842 gives his place of Birth as Berriew.

    Have a look at this:

    HO107, piece 1440, book 14, folio 31, page 17
The family are living at: Pentre Llivior, Berriew, Montgomery
It has children Margaret, David and Mary (who are with them in 1851) plus a couple of others. :)

That looks like it! Thank you Jan! Why have I had so much trouble locating this? Any tips or hints? Perhaps it was the d.o.b. that threw me off as I had found the grave. 20170809_151055.jpg

I always allow a few years either way of what my starting point is. Anyone recording a death only goes by what they think they know and also, birthdays were not as important a couple of hundred years ago as they are today.

I even have an ancestor who stayed the same age in 3 censuses, then suddenly those 30 years caught up with her!
