I have been chasing Family to verify what I have in notes handed down & found online before entering them into Legacy tree, left them sitting & got on with Mother's line yonks ago, now bought into light by a recent contact.

My 6th G'Granfather Thomas, said to be b. 1682 Beddingham,& died there in Sussex,22 Jan 1768 .[St.Andrew's ] Parish records have him born in E.Blatchington, as was his Dad, James in 1583. May be a Parish direction thing?
Thomas married Mary in 1707 Hurstpierpoint - 23 miles away.

His son my 5th Gt.G'dad William, b. 1715 Westham, Sussex, as was his sister Mary in 1717. Will'm married Susannah [of Willingdon] in Westham, 1746 & life went on from there...mainly in Willingdon.

Query:- I can only find one marriage between Thomas & Mary 1709+-11 yrs in Sussex.

1709 + 1711 there are two births to Thomas & Mary in Pyecombe which is 4 miles south. a Thomas & a William.
25 miles Sth.East is Westham where my William is said to be born in 1715.

1725 another Mary was born to a Thomas & Mary in Hurstpierpoint, also Elizabeth in 1729.

Have I got a meandering family here or is there another Thomas & Mary in this area?

Surname? -take the marrow out & what are you left with?

Not really Sue, where does marrow come from?
If you key in Thomas & Mary & their marriage-place in 1707 it will come up in Family Search. :D must away to ironing before too hot to contemplate.

I noted that one earl on Sue & left it as it's in opposite direction from all that's been laid down as 'gospel' in family.
Rye to Westham 25 miles. not so bad, but
    Hurstpierpoint to Rye
54.4 miles. see map as they supposedly journeyed on way to Willingdon, blue blob is c Westham & Willingdon is just a little East of the bottom of the black dotted line in the middle of them all.
Rye is a good stretch up along the coast from Westham.

James ,father of Thomas also of E.Blatchington.

Hang on! If Thomas was born in 1682 and James was his father who was born in 1583 then James was 99 when Thomas was born.
    What a stayer.....

Oh dear, you see my worry. all of those names to sort & write down in order, JAMES b.1655-d.1698. I inadvertantly scrolled down to another chap. Did same in my legacy file. Bless you for pointing it out now. His G'Dad was b.1593 so it would have been wrong anyway. Back to starters, no FMP today until I resub.

I did find a bit of a confusing tree:
Thomas Hollibone 1682 East Blatchington father James.
Thomas married Catherine Hyde (said to be born in 1719 ) children as William 1715 and James 1721.
Then married Mary Webb born 1687. Children Mary 1718, Westham, James 1721 East Sussex, Elizabeth 1724 Beddington, John 1726 Lewes. Then he married Elizabeth Owden in 1726.

Thanks Anne,, the more in here, the less in the kitchen.
Mainly I want to know if Thomas b. 1682 Beddingham/E. Blatchington is the only Thomas who married a Mary in about 1700-1710 in Sussex. Likely to travel in the areas mentioned.
Mary Webb 2 Apr. 1687–1726..Hurstpierpoint, Pts William & Jane. is mine. If same Thomas & Mary travelled about for his work & had children in Hurstpierpoint in 1720s, [ 1725-1729 ] it's also feasible that he may have gone back to Beddington for his death 22.Jan. 1768 to be recorded as such there.
Getting so that I need to copy/paste these place names so I don't mix them about, hams & ingtons. :(
