to my shame I cannot remember which rellie I was looking at when this image came up, A bit all over the shop just lately, probably why I forgot to post this query earlier. I know he was of Rotherhithe or Bermondsey but that's all, so can't even go back & see occupations in earlier years.
I'd like to know what is the word circled in blue if anyone can work it out please. oh, would they have riveters?

My initial thought was MINER/RUNNER - but age 60? Assistant? At the Royal Arsenal?
    No.
Do you have more of the page, Wendy, to compare script?

Not sure what the word is, but the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich was an armament manufacturer in it's day so it could be riviter.

What about "Viewer", possibly another term for Inspector, or a similar function?

I saw 'viewer' quite easily. Glad that Schnurrbart read same.

I think it may be viewer, as well. My Grandad was an overlooker at the Woolwich Arsenal after he was invalided out of the Army during WW1, so I suspect one and the same thing?

Thank you all. I can accept that after another look. Sound feasible. Still looking for that darn census image. However, big day tomorrow, time for bed. G' night all.

Found the original for John J Nourse. Findmypast transcription agrees with "Viewer"

Libby you treasure, You are so right! {-(^^)-}thank you very much. He lived there until his death in 1920. Did you search all of the censuses for a 60yr old in Pumstead?
@Flook thank you Flook, should have known a map lover would find something ;)
Serves me right for not attaching occupations for all years. :(
What a great group of people.

edit. just checked his family page. 1891 &1901 the only censuses I haven't mentioned.
