https://www.olivetreegenealogy.com/photos/ancestor-photos.shtmlThat's great, thanks very much.On MyHeritage, you can upload the photo and it will estimate the date. I've used this a few times with photos that I know the date and the estimate matches within a few years. You don't have to have a paid account to make this work.
Also, the Olive Tree Genealogy blog has an article with good tips:

Thank you. I'm not even sure that it's my Gt. Gt. Grandmother that people on Anc. trees are saying it is. (Oh, some of those treesMy first reaction (sitting here at 6am, with all doors & windows open, no breeze) was "Gosh, that dress would be hot in this weather!". High neckline, tight belt, heavy material ...
Looks Victorian era, maybe 1890s? Do you think it was taken in a studio? If it's a snapshot in a garden, then maybe it's early 1900s - when did ordinary people have access to cameras?
Love the watch & chain - I wonder how it attached at the neck?
Just wondering out loud. No idea what I'm talking about ...

) I don't think my family would have had the money to spare to go to a studio. I can't imagine her having the money for a camera either. My couple split up between the 1881 census and the 1891 census. After which she was a charwoman and then a fieldworker. I know I can never know for sure if it's her whenever it was taken, but this post did help.I do hope that the heat has eased for you. It never used to bother me in my 'younger days' but now I suffer dreadfully in our summers, so try to keep in the air con as much as possible.(sitting here at 6am, with all doors & windows open, no breeze
