omnes eodem cogimur, omnium

versatur urna serius ocius

sors exitura et nos in aeternum

exilium inpositura cumbae.

~Horace

We are all herded to the same place, the universal

urn is turned quickly and gravely, casting out lots,

and we will be placed on board

a boat to eternal exile.

Thank you Londoner. Probably just the Curates way of filling in a blank year in marriages then.

Omnes eodem cogimur
All the same undeniably

Had to leave it there 'tis bedtime and I can't make out some of the words. No, I dont know Latin, I was just using the google translator:rolleyes:

Whilst taking forever I see that 'tis done and so much for the way I did it - totally wrongo_O:D

OK, here is what is written at the top of the very first book of Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths for my local church. The book starts around 1600. It might be a list of BMD,s but I can't make out what it says.

I think I can make out the word 'December'

That's a challenge. I think toward the end it says the year of our Lord God 1601. The ones look like lowercase i

In other words Muggy got there before me and we both came to similar conclusions :)

And a bit more... Second word looks to me like "names".

End of 2nd line, after "burialls":
[?] are to be found

Not sure of the [?] - looks a bit like "whe", possibly for "who"?

And I'm not quite sure what the whole thing is getting at. o_O

I think the long shot is, this was the first book of it's kind to be set up for Knighton church. Later on in the series there follows books 2, 3 etc. I have been going through the books to see who the Vicars, Curates and Perpetual Curates were.
