Samuel Connor was born Ayton, Berwickshire in 1843. In the 1851 Census, age 8 he is with father Jeremiah Connor and mother Catherine and siblings in Newton By the Sea, Northumberland. After 1851, I cannot trace him at all. Some of his older siblings remained for a while in Northumberland and others moved with their father, Jeremiah Conner to Northfleet, Kent (1861 census). Then the family moved to Bow, Middlesex, where Jeremiah died 1871 and his Widow Catherine Connor became head of family, living in 53 British Street, Bow.
Nothing anywhere I can find for Samuel Connor after 1851.
Can anyone assist, please.

There's a Samuel Conner on the 1871 Scotland census born abt. 1843 Northern Island Ayton, England???? He's an Ab. Seaman on the ship Ostrich

This is a strong possibility as his Father was a seagoing person as a Lifeboat man and the date/place of his birth also connects to the information given on the 1851census. Any idea where he was in the 1861 census?

Also the 1881 census (your first post) does his date of birth and place tie in with DOB 1843 Ayton, Berwickshire? and what is his occupation 1881.

Date of birth is 1841, place of birth Berwick upon Tweed, occ. bricklayer's labourer.

Me again.. I assume that the Ostrich was a Royal Navy ship and not a Merchant vessel????

I don't know, sorry. Ancestry has only the index for Scottish censuses you will need to use 'Scotland's People' to see the original sheet. Perhaps if you google the ship's name there may be some more info available.
