Ware burial notations.

Came across these in the St Mary the Virgin, Ware Parish Register images on FMP under the title of "Composite", 99 images all told, 2 pages to an image. Hals reference # D/P 116 1/1.

I haven't come across these catergorisations before.
The date followed by "a woman childe of ........"
A man childe of ..........
In the above two types of notation the children were unnamed.
Susan Bloggs a nurse child of ........

Btw I didn't see any Bloggs in the Ware PRs.

Some sad burials at Ware.
A soldier from Colchester 10 Sep 1648.
A poor Scottish soldier 6 Nov 1651.
You would think the Vicar, Rector, Curate whatever he was would have had the decency to find out and add their names, he was either decidedly incompetent or a lazy beggar, as were others, there were so many burials in the PRs where either a first or surname were missing, or both.

Another couple that caught my eye were:-
10 Jun 1646 Anthony Yong son of Anthony killed.
28 Nov 1649 Anthony Yong of Saracen's Head buried.

The Saracen's Head caught my eye too. Went searching for a village or something of that name but all I came up with was an inn in Kings Langley. Not the Kings Langley near me though Those registers are very interesting reading.

British History Online (they ask for donations, so no link) has an interesting page on Ware including that 'The Great Bed of Ware' was kept at the Saracen's Head until it was moved to Rye House.
If you scroll down far enough there is a plan of St Mary's Church and its history.

I remember going to St Marys in Ware and there was a gravestone there that said the interred gent was 120 years old!!

Not easy to find or get to are they?

Once I found the three sets for Ware I bookmarked them in Firefox, then each day I log on to FMP then click on the bookmark, it saves a lot of angst.

I've seen quite a few pubs with that name around the UK but not been in one.

Something else I noticed in the Ware St Mary the Virgin burial register was that there seemed to be an awful lot of Stillborn burials, right the way through.

Just in case anyone is about to check out Ware:

St Mary the Virgin, Ware, Burials on D/P 116 1/1 start 25 Mar 1558 (image 47 of 99) and finish 10 Jun 1653 (image 80 of 99).

Baptisms are before the burials.

Marriages start 15 Apr 1558 on Image 82 of 99 and finish 11 Apr 1653 image 96 of 99.
