Have we got news for her....Thanks AM for the links but my poor eyes can't read the stuff on James Dennis it is very hard to read. My contact from the monarapioneers newsletter dose not think he belongs to our family, she says no convicts in the Dennis family!
I will tell her to have a look at TD and read it for herself as the give away for me was listing the 2 brothers and 2 sisters with the right names.
Have you seen newspaper reports of his indictment in 1842 for robbery of a youth -along with his co-accused?
Just had a look in the usual places, but couldn't find a really cheap one. They have 12 months for approx. $21.Might be worth trying for a cheaper short sub on British Newspapers if there is one going.
I only saw the deserting report on him there no attesting or anything else. newspapers had reports on another James Dennis getting promotions, but older than your laddie. Thanks Wendy. I see that FMP has Army Deserters 1828 to 1840 for Huntingdonshire and James Dennis is listed but I don't have a sub for them only Anc I wonder if when he enlisted would he have to supply any family info eg fathers name or where born.
There is death of a James Dennis Queanbeyan 5618/1870. Parents James and Sarah...
I wonder if it could be Petchy's Bay!J Jackson of it looks like Pesch ( but that doesn't look right) Bay.
