Can anyone find the family connection?

I don't want to spoil the party and there's still work to be done on the genealogy of all the families involved, but I've been looking at the original question again and trying to strip everything down to its bare essentials.

Having said all that, the question was (I've highlighted what I think is pertinent to my theory and so you'll need to expand the quoted section to see it)>

We need help finding the connection for Mary Ann Breeze (nee Davis/Davies) to the Reverend Edward Lutwyche Davies.

The Will with a Codicil of Mary Ann Breeze of Knighton, Radnorshire, names the Reverend Edward Lutwyche Davies as one of her executors. The Rev., she says, is her cousin. She leaves her house, in Knighton, Radnorshire, and all its contents to him.

Edward Breeze married Mary Ann Davis on 12th September 1815 in Holy Trinity Church, Clapham, Surrey.

Edward Breeze became High Sheriff of Radnorshire on 25th February 1841 etc etc.

This is what started the whole search off Edward [Lutwyche Davies] and his wife Ann had a son and named him Edward Breeze Davies on 31st August 1846 in Wormbridge. We wondered why his middle name was Breeze. Just had to get Mary Ann Breeze's will to see if it gave any clues. When it said that his father was a cousin to Mary Ann that explained it.

My simple theory is that Edward was given the name Breeze out of courtesy for the patronage Edward Breeze had shown Edward Lutwyche Davies. Edward Breeze Davies was his father's first-born son and so this was the first time Edward Lutwyche Davies could extend this courtesy.

From Berrow's Worcester Journal 25 March 1841.

"Edward Breeze, Esq., the worthy High Sheriff for Radnorshire, has appointed the Rev. Edward Lutwyche Davies, M.A., Perpetual Curate of Kenderchurch and Kilpeck, in the county of Hereford, his Chaplain."

What about that?

And would you believe that I had just found the very same notice......

OK, having a problem with finding Mary Ann Breeze's will transcript on my computer. If you transcribed it for me and still have a copy could you please forward a copy to my email.

Just to let you all know and thank you all very much for your invaluable help with this thread.

I was doing this research for a couple in America. They have spent the last week in Scotland, visiting the husbands ancestral homes. Today they are off to Manchester to pick up the wife's sister. She is flying in this morning. They are them making their way to Knighton. I am to meet them in the George & Dragon at 5.30. We will then make our way to the churchyard so that I can point out the wife's ancestors graves. I have had a word with the man who usually locks the church, and he has arranged to not lock it till 9pm. This will give me chance to show then the stained glass window dedicated to one of their ancestors. I have 3 copies of my booklet, on the history of Knighton church, printed and ready to give them. Later, we are off for drinks and a chat. Quite looking forward to it.

Thank you all once again for your help. I couldn't have done it without you {-(^^)-}

That's fantastic Terry. I'm sure your visitors will be over the moon with being given a guided tour of Knighton Church (and their visit to the local hostelry ;)) - and how satisfying for you, to have your efforts appreciated and actually meet the people who you have done the research for. Have a great evening :)

We can't find the place 'Llanreath, Radnorshire', there is a place called that in Pembrokeshire but she seems pretty consistent with Radnorshire.

Reverend Edward Lutwyche Davies 1804-1895

2nd son of James and Catherine of Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire (so James would be a brother to Mary Ann's father. Who the blue blazes was her father.

Married Ann Hardwick in Wormbridge, Herefordshire on 5th December 1843.

1. where was Mary Ann Davies born ?

2. Who was Mary Ann's father ?

3. Who was their common grandfather ?

Go for it, but don't blame me if you get dizzy going around in circles. Been there, done that

That is my family. Great grandpa Edward Breeze Davies was killed in New York when he was leaving to go get the inheritance.

Can it it still be claimed?
I think only theen can.
I was adopted and was just connecting with my biological family.
I JUST heard about this stuff today and then to see it written here... Wow

I just heard part of this story today from my biological cousin. Apparently my great grandpa was the one who died on his way to pick up the inheritance.
My biological family is still around. I was adopted so I am just learning about this part of my lineage. So weird to see it online also.

So sorry for not getting back to you on this. Is there anything you would specifically like to know ?

I believe I'm a relative. That generation and the following all passed on.
