Could you lovely people give me your best guess as in the era of this picture please?

As a very rough guess, somewhere around 1880?

Any clues on the back of the image/mount? What size is it, any rounded corners etc? These can all help with dating.

I'm a bit intrigued as to who they all are - one thought was a ladies' football team with their manager and two mascots or ball boys

More seriously, is it two parents with three elder daughters sitting alongside, and two younger sons in front (or possibly grandsons?), and all the household staff standing behind?

It looks quite a substantial house, and with so many staff the family must have been pretty well-heeled, though they don't look to be wearing anything particularly fancy.

I've had to spend a bit of time expanding the research on the Portlock side of the family to see if I can identify this family. Alas as yet I've drawn a blank. My best guess is that this is a household that one of the family served at some point and could very well be one of the servants pictured.
