How old is he?

The photo I have used for my profile is supposedly of my Grandfather taken in 1914, however looking at it the other night I began to wonder if it might not be him. So question is how old do we think the person in the picture is?

I think he could have been as young as 20 but obviously that's just a guess.

Thank you that is what I was thinking early 20's. If it is my Grandfather he would be 30ish when this photo was taken and would have spent the last 12 odd years working as a puddler etc in the ironworks

Although, the chap in the photo could be thirty.

My son in law is twenty-nine, and he looks about his age to me.


(As an aside, my grandfather is also about thirty in my avatar).

Do you have any other photos of him, any age? Knowing of course how old he was and when the photo was taken.

Anyone else in the family with a similar feature?
My grandfather, father, sister and now me have the same ears. Though mine have morphed into my fathers and grandfathers over time.

I was thinking a much as 28 -31. I had brothers who looked ridiculously younger than their ages.

Unfortunately none that are definitely him, unless his last living son has some but he is now in a nursing home with dementia and parkinsons

None of his Children or grandchildren had/have that distinct shaped ear

This is his last living son aged 93 maybe he does have a bit of that distinctive ear

it is amazing I have seen this photo hundreds of times and have only just notice how different the faces are two long and thin two quite round (or is that the red wine having an effect?)

Looking hard again the 2nd chap along [with gap in front teeth] could almost be said to resemble the avatar Laddie.

Was the shape of his right ear an actual physical trait or the temporary result of an injury?
I haven't had a red wine for several days & I can see the differences.

To the best of my knowledge it is a physical trait.
