Slavery

Fascinating, Derek!! I have some slave returns in my FTM bc both sides owned them around 1823...just 3 or 4 though. Ron's British side (Cooper) had 5 children by an Eliza Evans and acknowledged them! Couldn't intermarry in 1810. I find the history totally fascinating, as I said.

Certainly am.........lots of friends with Island ancestry who will like it too. Thanks, again. Have you seen Patricia Jackson's "JamaicanFamilySearch" site which has now been given to the London University??

It really is, Sue! I guess I got intrigued back when I was transcribing documents for Pat Jackson's Jamaican website. Then it dawned on me that Ron's British side was from a light freed slave and a Brit who could not marry in 1810! All 5 children did extremely well...that angle fascinated me! Went from there. :)
