Fleet Street, Walworth

I'm looking to find out where this was in 1826 ish? I have Mary Ann Devenport, father Thomas, saying she was born there. I haven't been able to work out where that was but as it was specifically mentioned in a census in 1891 I wonder if it is some kind of a place of note. I assume its not THE Fleet Street

I have found Flint Street Walworth.

Could be AM, Thomas may not have remembered it correctly, he would be quite old by the 1891 census. One of mine was 87 in a census and by then he had forgotten altogether where he was born.

Thank you, you're making me re think what it might be. I didn't make it clear, what I meant was Mary Ann Devenport (whose father was Thomas, deceased before her marriage in 1842) reported herself in the censuses where she was born.
1851- London
1861- Camberwell, Surrey
1871- Lambeth, Surrey
1881- Walworth, Surrey
1891- Fleet St, London
1901- Newington, London

It's definitely written as Fleet not Flint, and she lived in Camberwell/ Lambeth all the time. I'm trying to find clues to her baptism, perhaps she does mean THE Fleet Street!

I couldn't resist looking at this and as far as I can see there was no Fleet Street anywhere near Walworth, Newington or Lambeth. Flint Street (now Silex Street, Southwark) was in existence as far back as 1819 (Faden's 4th edition of Horwood's map).

[Do ignore this if you want as I've absolutely no logical reason for saying this, but suddenly giving her place of birth as Fleet Street is so out of left-field that I wouldn't be surprised if this was where she was actually born. I just can't think of any logical reason why she should suddenly give this as her place of birth, out of the blue as it were, if there wasn't something in it. Having said that, my lot moved from the Fleet Street area into the Camberwell/Newington/Walworth area mid-century, so perhaps I'm just biased!].
