Hoping you get a response to this because we really need to know.

Well my cousin is away for a few days so I emailed the ERO Archivists this morning.
I have just had a reply (in about 2 hours), so a big thanks to them and fantastic service.

The answer was they had not come across it before but looking through the register found a couple more entries with - wait for it....
'at age' entered. They say they are surprised to find this archaic term still being used in the 20th century but it seems it still was.

So now we know, and @arthurk got it straight away
