Erysipelas.
Bacterial infection of the upper layer of the skin. Similar to cellulitis.

Not these days ‘cause we have antibiotics, but it can cause septicaemia, leading to organ failure and without antibiotic treatment.......

Even with treatment it can still end in organ failure. Hubby had sepsis, same thing, three years ago. But he’s enjoying peanut butter on toast at the moment.
