That William is a tiler plasterer? Would not have thought they existed in 1841, just goes to show.

It would be different if he was working indoors or out. Plastering a wall and then tiling as per kitchens and bathrooms. Or, as is common here in Cornwall, tiling (slating) a roof using the "wet lay" method of setting the slates in a lime plaster and then pargeing the underside. I'm not a builder but have been party to a couple of renovations!
 
In 1861 my gg granddad Edwin was one of a gang of 4 plasterers lodging in Stretford, Manchester.
They all came from Oxford. Seems a long way from home but I guess they went where the work was.
Edwin's wife was back home in Oxford with her newborn son.
Took a bit of finding as a certain well known site transcribed Oxford as Dorford.
No mention of tilers!
