William and Lillian worked for Samson Rogers in Illinois, William was a general servant and she a domestic (if I remember correctly). Check the census after their arrival in USA.
I have now found the 1910 emigration detail and he was a farmer.William and Lillian worked for Samson Rogers in Illinois, William was a general servant and she a domestic (if I remember correctly). Check the census after their arrival in USA.
I sometimes wonder if the occupation on emigration documents is what the person wants to be, rather than what they have been. It happened that way to a couple of mine...He may have stated he was a farmer when he emigrated but on the 1910 census he is a servant, doing general work for Samson Rogers, a merchant. Lillian is a maid.
I think, as it ends in ‘d’ it’s supposed to be Helford. Was hHlmyd Helston?
Familysearch has Lilian and Alfred marrying until 7 Mar 1912 and he was 25 and she was 22.Oak Park, Cook, Illinois, Usa
