One shiny little fact found seems to draw me into a multitude of rabbit holes--all at the same time. How is that even possible?

Anyway, my surname is Treleaven and right now I'm interested in how an intermarried group emmigrated from Cornwall to Amherst Island, Ontario, Canada in 1834. And then another group formed and homesteaded in Huron County, Ontario about 14 years later.

I've dabbled with genealogy for a long time (since the mid-1990's). A number of relatives have provided trees and information along the way. Some had supporting sources but a lot didn't. I'm gradually trying to rectify that.

It was a blog post by a member of the forum that lead me here. Glad to have found the place.

Jane S. (McQuoid) Treleaven. Born Feb. 1830, Amherst Island, Ontario. Married Walter in 1857, four years after his first wife died. She died 1898-06-01 in Lucknow, ON. I grew up in the Lucknow house they lived in.

Thank you. The McLeans are one of my brick walls. I'm not sure where they came from in Scotland (possibly Skye) and with given names like Donald, Alexander and John there are a LOT of possibilities to weed through. Another cousin in Ontario has recently gotten interested in genealogy. I should check and see if he's had any progress in this area.

You have me quite flummoxed; I didn't expect anyone to ask that! I indeed worked summers in the feed mill when I was a teenager. My dad, the fourth generation owner, sold the business in the early 1990s and retired.

I see you hail from Owen Sound. Were you, by chance, born a Hall?

I thought you might be in for a surprise with that comment!! :D So "Hi" old neighbour !! You never know who you will meet on a British genealogy page!
Not a Hall.. I was born in BC! My husband and I lived at Holyrood ( actually Kinloss) at one time. 1970's.. Back in the days when winter was winter, not this sissy stuff people are whining about today.....! !!
