A missing Silhouettist

My friend Tim has been in touch again.

He is looking for any information about a chap by the name of F. MARDEN.

Tim says, "He’s mentioned in the big book but no real information or where he might have been from...I have one by him that just says F Marden profilist stencilled on the back....so if any of your gang ever fancy a rummage ...but God knows how you begin..."

I have had a bit of a delve but all that I could come up with was this:

We are looking at about the 1820s and 1830s or so...

Neither Tim nor I are holding our breath....

I suppose 'F. Marden' could even have been female and possibly why they didn't record their full name on the back?

I agree, a real needle in a haystack this one.

There's a bit on the Profiles of the Past website that says that F. Marden could be an alias of a man called I. Maiden. Doesn't get us any nearer as there's no further info on him except that he was itinerant

Goodness! With a hairstyle like that, it's no wonder that women didn't work. I'd still be trying to fix it at 5pm!

Look up all the F Mardens born between 1790 and 1820 in FreeReg?? I found a couple but mainly females. Family Search would probably yield a large batch.

I had a rummage in the 1841 census to see if there were any clues there, but drew a blank.

I Maiden is a bit suss…….Iron Maiden is all that comes to mind.

Me too. Not many 'F's who would have been old enough.
