Helping someone.
Alfred Gray born 24 May 1883 in Plymouth, Devon to parents Alfred Gray and Mary Elizabeth Nettle. I am unable to find his death. The baptism is in on FMP.
He had a brother called Alfred Williamr Fancis born 19 Feb 1885. The baptism in on FMP.
The 1911 census mother had 6 children and one had died.
Alfred cannot be found after baptism.
Another son named Matthew John Henry Gray born 1890 married Florence Jane Horswell in 1909 in Plymouth Devon. Certificate on FMP.
Matthew can't be found after 1901. The 1911 census has his wife living with her parents in Plymouth, ,Devon.
Any help will be appreciated.
 
Did you see that in 1921 Florence's parents have an Ethel Gray b1911 living with them?

Now found that information but there is a problem.
1939 has Ethel F living with her mother and her mother's surname is Horswell, (husband is Alfred W Horswell) . All names are Horswell,including Ethel.
They are living in Southampton. Ethel's date of birth matches ,
There is a marriage between Alfred W Horswell and Florence Gray in Southampton in 1920.
Did Matthew die?
 
Just typing that all out. I haven't looked for a death yet, but the m/c should tell all.
In 1921 Florence and Alfred are in Southampton with a daughter Suzanne b1920.
 
A tree on Anc has Matthew's death as 1966

I cannot find anything better, (I guess they couldn't either), but the age is wrong, and where is he 1901 - 1966?
 
Looking at the 1939 reg. there is a Matthew J Gray b 4/1/1888, a single man and a ship's cook in Portsmouth - a much better match for the 1966 death:(
 
Weird but I also cannot find a birth or death for an Alfred Gray via GRO in 1883 +-2yrs although a Baptism shows on Ancestry in E. Stonehuse. No death on GRO either. No census records him.
I wonder if the actual Baptism image would show a 'private' Baptism or note of his death?

There is an Alfred Gray registered June qtr 1883 East Stonehouse 5b 308, a marriage for Alfred Gray and Mary Eliza Nettle June qtr 1883 Stoke Demeral 5b 558 East Stonehouse and Stoke Demeral are just over 1 mile apart.
No.. not him. different Alfred Gray. So I wonder if the first Alfred died shortly after birth so not registered. Alfred Snr was a private in the Royal Marines for both Alfred jnr’s.
No other details on the baptism for the first Alfred 1883.

The above are said to be Parents of Alfred b. 1883 & Alfred Francis Gray b. 1885

I cannot find a birth or death but FMP has the image and in the margin the birth is 24 May 1883 . The baptism in 24 June 1883.Their address 23,St Paul's Street,Stonehouse. Father Private in the Royal Marines.
 
There is a 1883 birth in the June qtr 1883, East Stonehouse, Devon, with mother's maiden name Proome.
A birth in 1885 in Stoke Dameral - mother Nettle (the correct mother) is Alfred William Francis Gray.

The marriage of Alfred Gray and Mary Eliza Nettle took place on 14/4/1883 (register office - image on FMP).
I cannot find any Gray/Proome marriage to fit with the birth reg. that Genie found.
 
There is a marriage between John Thomas Gray, Private R. M. and Betsy Ann Proome on the 8th October 1862 in Woolwich (image on Ancestry)

We found the 2nd Alfred in the 1891 census with his parents.
