If you go to Scotlands People and search for the marriage of Alexander and Catherine, it will pop up. You will be able to view it for 6 credits and it should provide details of both sets of their parents. :)

Her parents were James and Livinia McGrath nee Mooney

Livinia died on 16th May 1904, aged 64, in Glasgow, she was a resident of 9, Doncater Street.

Livinia's mother's maiden name was MCMILLAN

Baptism - 2 Jan 1866, Ireland
Name - Catherine McGrath
Father's Name - James McGrath
Mother's Name - Livina Mooney

Excellent, thank you lots and lots

Further to my post #3

When giving the baptism of Catherine in 1866, Ireland is a little vague. After doing further research it would appear James and Lavinia had another child, Patrick, born 3 years later. His record gives a more zoomed in location.

Name - Patrick McGrath
Birth Date - 7 Feb 1869, Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland
Father's Name - James McGrath
Mother's Name - Lavina Mooney

Name - Patrick McGrath
Baptism date - 09 Feb 1869, Kirkinriola, Antrim, Ireland
Father - James McGrath
Mother's last name Mooney

Ballymena to Kirkinriola is about 3 miles.

Thank you so much , wonderful information. I pay into Ancestry and Scottish people but can’t seem to find what I need, my head gets very jumbled by it all. Really appreciate the help

By the way, your local Library should be able to provide free access to FMP as well as the British Newspaper Archive. Worth investigating. :)

Worth a try .. I could ask there .. they may have my dads side as Shropshire, but the most I’m researching for my side is Manchester .. unsure what or how much info they hold.

Always worth asking. The Library staff will also be able to tell you what is available locally. :)
