Below is a 1755 baptism in Swanscombe, Kent. The register was damaged by water and fire. The one I'm looking at is Aug 3, I see Ann daughter of Richard....... I see the surname that I am looking for, but not absolutely sure. Anyone?

If it helps at all FMP (their source from the Family Search records) has the surname as Colegate

I know, right! The church was destroyed by a lightening fire in 1902 and so quite a few of the parish registers were damaged. I think my 6 x Gt grandparents may be in one of the registers, but too much damage done to know for sure.

It might be worth checking the Bishops Transcripts with the Kent Archives.

I've already been in touch with them and they have no plans of putting them online. Can't complain as they've put the parish registers online for free.
