Cause of death

Bay Horse

Can be a bit of a dark horse
What does this say, please?

"Chronic Bright's Disease - ...?"

It looks like 'Oed date' between 'disease' and P.M. What's that? Oedema... ?

I think you're right, @MollyMay

P.M. definitely Post Mortem, yes. And death registered two days after the event, in a hospital. So... what might 'old date' mean?

I don't know nor could offer a guess, it doesn't seem to make any sense and I cannot think of anything other than date for the second word (data keeps coming to mind, but that last letter does look like an 'e' and not sure data was a word used at that time)

I remembered afterwards that my daughter had been involved in autopsies during her training so I messaged her - and she hadn't a clue what it might mean.

All of the above are good suggestions, however - and particularly liking @Barley's line of thought. Thanks all.
