Thomas Williams of Deptford and his possible two wives

My starting point is William Thomas Howland Fewtrell who was born in 1850 in Hoxton
In 1851 he is in Aston, Warwickshire as William Futer with:
mother Eliza born 1811 Boughton kent
father William born 1804 Cowle, Warwickshire
brother John born 1828 Worcestershire

John is much older and alerted me to the fact this this could be a second marriage of the father

In 1861 he is William Dewtrell in Deptford, his father is called Henry, but his mother is the same and he has a brother Henry A born 1851 in Birmingham

In 1871 he and his brother Henry Fewtrell are in Deptford as sons in law to:
Thomas Williams born 1815 Woolwich
Eliza Williams wife born 1811 Boughton (Norfolk!)

An Eliza Fewtrill married a Thomas Williams in 1868 in Lewisham so it looks like their mother married again

But - William Thomas Howland Fewtrell married Jane Williams in 1875 in Lewisham
In the 1881 and 1891 censuses and further she is born either 1851 or 1853 in Woolwich or Deptford

The only possible census previous to her marriage that I can find is 1861 where she is born 1849 Deptford with:
Thomas Williams born 1813 Woolwich
Harriet born 1813 Deptford
John born 1843 Deptford
William born 1850 Deptford


I can't find any more about Harriet, a marriage, or the siblings
Is this really the same Jane and the same Thomas Williams, and William and Jane's parents married each other?
From Jane's possible birth in 1849 Harriet's maiden name could be Archer but I'm not sure if this is right. I would like to know more about her

Henry A! Found the birth and baptism of a Henry Alfred Fewtrell 11/5/1851 St James the Less Ashted Warwickshire. Father WILLIAM mother ELIZA . Is that Henry brother of William?

A Harriet Williams died in 1867 in Greenwich age 53.

I did a little digging on the Fewtrells of Worcester.
William Fewtrell was baptised in Crowle 25/4/1802 - s/o John and Elizabeth (image on Anc)
William Fewtrell married Sarah Garner 2/7/1821 at Worcester St Martins (image on Anc)
I can find 3 children born to William and Sarah
bap Himbleton Worcestershire 9/12/1821 Mary
bap Himbleton Worcestershire 2/5/1823 Elizabeth
bap Himbleton Worcestershire 22/1/1826 John
The NBI has a burial of Sarah Fewtrill 21/4/1830 at Himbleton age 29

I think you know William Fewtrell married Eliza Howland June qtr 1844 Lewisham 5 - 328

That's a great find but sadly this Thomas and Harriet are still in Poplar in 1861 and 1871.

A Harriet Williams died in 1867 in Greenwich age 53.

If you do go buying certificates then possibly the 1867 death certificate for Harriet might have the same address as Thomas's 1868 marriage certificate?

Amazed you found that - I can't see the other T and H anywhere in 1851!

Not sure if this helps - but on the 1881 census Thomas William Howland Fewtrell with wife Jane and children are living at 50 Butchers Row Deptford.
Living at 49 Butchers Row is Thomas Williams, Eliza, William Fewtrell (age 30 pob Middlesex) listed as married and Henry as single
So it looks like William has been entered twice.

Back to William and Jane, the first child listed is William T (Anc have it as J) Williams age 6 born Deptford.
There is a birth reg for William Thomas Williams Sept qtr 1874 Deptford 1d 844 with no mother's maiden name given
Anc have a bap for William Thomas Williams at St Nicholas Deptford 4/9/1872 born 15/8/1874 to mother Jane no father entered but her address is given as 49 Butchers Row.
It is looking more likely that Eliza's son William Thomas Howland Fewtrell did marry Thomas Williams daughter Jane
