Celestin Edward Dansey

My laptop is closed & I am using my iPhone which is the same as a reboot. I still do NOT have the missing posts so doubt that it has anything to do with the worldwide security hole & patch! Good night!

Thank you very much Ann. That was the marriage cheat I did on the Isle-of-wight yesterday. But that has put more meat on the bones.
After I had shut down, it dawned on me that that was probably why you were playing with the Isle of Wight records....

And well done Jane - some super sleuthing there :).

I may be going off at totally the wrong tangent but, Edward Collins Dansey married Isabella Hamilton Walker in 1837 -
Hereford Journal 9th August 1837
On Tuesday the 1st inst. was married, at Ashford Carbonell, Salop, by the Rev. Waties Corbett, Chancellor of Hereford, Edward Collin Dansey, Esq. son of the late Richard Dansey, Esq. of Easton Court, to Isabella Hamilton, eldest daughter of C. Walker, Esq. of Ashford Court, near Ludlow.

There is a wonderful account of the circumstances around this marriage at

books.google.co.uk/books?id=mSMkTIsuO18C&pg=PT3&lpg=PT3&dq=%22edward+collins+dansey%22&source=bl&ots=JOhPMOxg_O&sig=ZXkm4__96elaeVSmPUWTLJPQc0s&hl=en&sa=X&ei=dp9GU7KlMYbwhQeHhICwDA&ved=0CEwQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=%22edward%20collins%20dansey%22&f=false

In this account, the marriage was far from a love-match, Edward did very nicely by marrying Isabella, but ended up “going mad” and left his money to Celestin (“his son by his first marriage”) and nothing to Isabella. Edward and Isabella had a son, Alfred Hamilton Dansey, in 1841.

I found the glitch at 3 am my time but after typing it out on this iPhone, the forum went into update mode and there is no sign of that post!

At the bottom right in tiny print it says "show ignored content"....I clicked on that and all of the missing posts by HuncaMunca popped out.

It is still hiding them today so thought you all should know in case it happens to you. It had nothing to do with the security update!!!

In case you didn't see this, Chimpy, there is an image of the baptism register for Adélaïde-Mélanie's baptism on FamilySearch here, with more information:

https://
familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11594-39766-76?cc=1582585

It says she was the daughter of Edouard Collins Dansey, 'Lieutenant de la Marine royal Anglaise' living at no. 42 rue St Nicholas d'Antin, Paris, and of Pacifique-Mélanie (B?)onnere [I'm not certain that the first letter is a B], his wife. Born 16 October 1826 and baptised 9 November the same year.
Her 'parrain' and 'marraine' (godparents) were 'Georges-Henri Dansey' her paternal uncle and 'Marguerite Janson femme Dansey' her paternal aunt, who were represented by the father and mother.

NB that (if I am interpreting the document correctly) Adélaïde's mother has the additional forename Pacifique, and that she is described as Edward's wife.

. . . though she sounds rather like the Pacifique Melanie Bonnaire who with one Hyacinthe GUESDON had a daughter Celine Victoire Josephine GUESDON born in Paris on 23 May 1832, according to a tree (really just a twig) here:

http://
gw.geneanet.org/edriessen?lang=fr;p=celine+victoire+josephine;n=guesdon

There's no indication of whether Pacifique was married to Hyacinthe . . . in fact there's no further information about either of Celine's parents.

Thank you very much Ann. Didn't realise there was so much on the Dansey family.
but ended up “going mad”
Yeah women do that to men :D

Brilliant Huncamunca. Thank goodness you translated it. Thank you. :)

Hi Heather. I have tried to simulate what is happening to you re. Huncamuncas missing posts.

I hovered over my name next to 'Inbox' and 'Alerts' on the top bar. From the drop down menu I selected 'People you Ignore' (sorry for the next bit ) I entered Figgs and saved changes.

I then went to the Celestin thread and all your posts were missing. I too saw the "show ignored content"....I clicked on that, as you did, and all of the missing posts by you came back.

I have been back in now and removed you from my 'People you ignore' list and all your posts are showing.

Could you go into your list and just check that Huncamuncas name hasn't got in there somehow.

Well damn......you solved that mystery and I have no idea how HM got into my ignored area cuz there has only ever been one in there and I actually forgot he was. Must have clicked on something weird cuz a few days ago I was going over the Stallan posts for Wilf Stallan and she had a lot of good information that I was copying over.

Glad that is sorted out and my apologies to HM b/c I would NEVER block her or anyone other than the one that I blocked a long time ago. That also explains the mysterious "show hidden messages" at the bottom of the page which I had never seen before either.

Thanks Chimp.....at least I know now how it happened. :(

Poor HM......big hugs, little one. {-(^^)-}

No thank you MollyMay I think I have all the info I need now.

I will leave this thread open as I have been researching for my site in connection with one of the Dansey family and have suggested that he join the forum.

He may want further info.

Thank you all very very much for your time and knowledge you have given so freely. {-(^^)-}

No problems, Figgs, I know you didn't block me on purpose. ():-)

So this is the other Terry (Dansey but not of the Knighton line) that started the thread with Terry.

Thanks to everyone who helped put the life of Celestin into more context than we had already.

I haven't read all of the posts on here yet, but I notice the marriage to Isabelle Hamilton and mention of the book. If you haven't read it then you may not know that Isabelle married a Mr. Robinson who on the basis of her diary (which he read) then divorced her and it was one of the first divorces to go through the Courts. It took a long time.

Once again, thanks for the assistance, it is much appreciated.

Regards - Terry

So that this does not turn into a welcome thread, I have copied part of terryd's post to a new thread here and moved the welcomes to it. :)
