Betsey Kite born 1839 registration district Blean Kent. Baptised under Betsey Kite Curtis. She is on the 1841 census civil parish of Sittingbourne under Elizabeth and 1851 civil parish of Minster in Sheppey under Betsey. Betsey is the last of gt grandads siblings I haven't been able to trace after 1851.

Thanks.

Many thanks for looking. Elizabeth's father is John Kite as per marriage on familysearch.

But- there is a birth of an Elizabeth Ann Kite, father John, born 1841 in Queensborough, very close to Sheerness, which might be the Elizabeth above

Parents are probably John and Charlotte. I've looked at all possibilities and still keep drawing blanks.

Also the main family are missing on the 1861 census so have been unable to check if Betsey is with them.

Hi Old Stoneface,

Curtis is her mothers maiden name. Betsey was baptised 14 Jul 1839 her parents married 21 Jul 1839.

Thank you, Jules.

I looked for each member of the family separately, without surnames, in 1861, but had no luck in finding the family; they must have gone on a camping trip or something!

There's a death entry for an Elizabeth Kite in Canterbury R.D. in Q2 1861 (vol 2a, page 346) - not Sheppey, but Sheppey was in the Ecclesiastical District of Canterbury. Unfortunately this is before they began putting the age at death on the register so it's only a vague suggestion, because I can't find any marriages which seem to fit (under Elizabeth or Betsey or even Betsy). :(

Hi Stoneface,

I only found 2 brothers of Betsey's in 1861. She may have gone by the name of Elizabeth. Kite being a common name doesn't make it easy if she moved out of the county. I'll have another look at the deaths. 3 of her uncles went to the US the last one in 1853 couldn't see her on the passenger list with the family.

Many thanks.

After looking for a few years for Betsey, have finally found her. She married under the name of Elizabeth Kite, she sadly died in 1878 her mother Mary being present, just 9 days between her brother Charles death at the same address mother Mary being present.
