Hi, I am new to forums in general and this one in particular. I have problems with both hands so if sometimes my postings seem curt, it's because typing hurts, so apologies in advance.
I live in Hastings New Zealand, though I was born in Hastings Sussex; and I have been hooked on genealogy for over 20 years.
Most of my direct ancestors I know about come from England, with one Canadian line which currently ends at a brick wall!
I actually have two brick walls I am consistently banging my head against, and will ask for help with them soon no doubt.
I am looking forward to participating in what seems like a pleasant and friendly group.
Regards, Apricat.

Hi Apricat and a warm welcome to Top Dog. Sorry to hear about your ailment, it must be a real pain (no pun intended) As for brickwalls are concerned the members in here love them, so post away.

Have fun :)

Thanks Chimp, how much info do I need to include for a brick wall? Silly question, I guess more is better. I might write and edit it in Word first, then copy it over to Ask the Experts.

That's the best way as the posting area has an habit of timing out if you are typing a lot of information. Yes, as much info as possible :)

Hi and welcome to TD Apricat :)
Yes we're a very friendly lot who love to help others with any queries especially those pesky brickwalls we all come across at some time in our research.
Looking forward to your postings ;)

C|:-)Welcome Apricat, glad you have joined us you will soon feel at home here amongst other like minded friendly folk.

Hi Apricat,
Welcome to Top Dog. It is friendly and we all help when we can. I'm sure that when you post your problems someone will be along to help. The moderators will help if you don't know where to put a problem for solving. Have a look at some solutions and feel comfortable and post away.

Hi Apricat.....Canada here. There are two of us in the Great White North, and we would love to help you break that brick wall down. We just had FULL access to all of the Big A records over the Canada Day weekend, durn it!! I don't belong to it, but SuzyQ and I can poke around in hidden places for you.

Welcome in Apricat. I also do most of my longer posts first on notepad & copy/paste here. Often forget to click on the Post reply button & just hit enter key. If lucky it is saved as draft for a time so I can go back & do it properly.
Enjoy. ;)

Hi Heather, my other brick wall is in the Quebec / New England area so I'm sure I'll be glad of your expertise there. I have full access to the two big sites A & F, so am happy to help when needed. Cheers, Sue

Welcome Apricat!

Can see why you have the name! My first ever pet when I was a child was the same colour, and was named Peach!:)

I live in Australia and all my ancestry is in England and a bit in Wales, so I am pretty experienced in researching over there. If I can help in any way, please let me know and I will endeavour to help, but I must also say that there are some real 'super sleuths' on board, so get those brick wall names and dates entered, and you will be on your way before you know it!;)

By the way, if you do make a mistake, you can always edit your postings with the Edit button bottom left hand side of your message, so don't worry too much!

Hi Diana, I have found and used the edit button already! I have posted my UK brick wall on the Ask The Experts forum, the Canadian / New England one will go up in a few days time. I'm thrilled you noticed my avatar, my lovely boy died of cancer 8 years ago and I miss him still.

I know just what you mean! Even though we lost our Peach when I was still in my teens (and that's a long time ago, or, as my grand-daughter says, back in the days of the dinosaurs), I still think of him very often. Other than the two dogs who dominate my life now, Peach is and always has been an absolute favourite of mine, so I know just how you must feel about losing your lovely cat! Looking forward to reading your UK ancestry to see where you originate from. Kind regards, Diana

Hello Apricat, welcome to Top Dog, we'll do our best to help you with any problem ancestors :)
