hi there, I am new to this forum & need some advice, I have tried requesting my great grandparents divorce records from national archives & had no success! any ideas on how I can obtain these or if there is anyone on this site who is close there that can help out with this sort of thing with us overseas people??? the divorce records are there & are from 1919...
Thanks Cheryl :-)

Hi again,

According to this TNA Research Guide for Divorces:
To access these records you will either need to visit us, pay for research or, where you can identify a specific record reference, order a copy.

If you click on the link for order a copy within that research guide, it will take you through to a page that explains how. :)

Did you find the reference to the divorce on the National Archives 'Discovery' website? If not, you will find it at http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C8021804
where you will see there is an option to order a copy of the papers. However it does say -

Ordering and viewing options
This record has not been digitised and cannot be downloaded.
Request a quotation for a copy to be digitised or printed and sent to you.

It would probably be worth your while requesting a quotation?

Best wishes
Ann

Hi Cherylmc,

Welcome! Follow AnnB's advice and you will be able to request a quotation for the divorce papers to be printed and sent to you once you agree and pay.

I ordered my great grandparents divorce papers a couple of years ago and they divorced in 1933 and ran to over a 120 pages!!!

Good Luck :)

Karen

I see cherylmc is in Queensland so I'm confused. Is the National Archive mentioned the one in the UK or here in Australia? My ggrandmother was divorced by her first husband in the 1800s in Queensland and the record of the saga was held at the Queensland State Archive. I was able to get a copy from them and they posted it to Canberra.

Reading again I guess it is UK since she mentions "us overseas people", so ignore my little snippet :(
