Florence Eliza Dunn was registered Sept qtr 1874 Clifton 6a 125
The original 1881 census gives her pob Glos - Bath
Have no idea if this is connected or just coincidental, but there is a family of Dunns in 'Portscuett aka Portskewett' in 1881 (LDS transcript, RG 11/5217, f.8, p.9). The head of the household, William Dunn, a general labourer, was 61 and born in Wales, and his wife Ann born in Peterborough. With them was a granddaughter Florence E. Dunn, aged 7, and born in Gloucester.
With the Gloucester connection it seems quite plausible that they were related to the Emma Dunn who had a son Harold Leonard in 1885.
At the moment I can't see a matching birth registration for Florence in FreeBMD or Gloucestershire BMDs.
I have travelled back through the census with William and Ann, they do not appear to have a daughter Emma.
Drat! That idea bites the dust then.
I am sorry I started you on that wild goose chase, MollyMay. William & Ann seem to have gallivanted around all over the place, but they can't hide from you!
There is an Emma Dunn on the 1881 census in Bristol RG11/2472/98/9
She is listed as niece (age 13 b1868 London) to Charles and Harriet Bazeley.
She may be a bit young to be the mother of Harold, but as my Dunns are from London I will see what I can find on her - after I have cooked dinner.
