Is anyone able to decipher My GGFather's navy record please? I do apologise if I'm not allowed to share this here.

Here's the basics:

He served on the 'Powerful' as a Boy 2nd Class from 25 Jan 1915
He was promoted to Boy 1st Class on 7 May 1915
The following day he joined the 'Pembroke I' but only for 8 days when he joined the 'Calliope'
-- his conduct was Very Good and his Ability Satisfactory -- he was slightly wounded in action on 31 May 1915

On 23? Jan 1917 (still on the 'Calliope') he became an Ordinary Seaman (presumably he was now of age)
13 ? Jan 1917 he transferred to 'Victory I'
9 May 1918 he joined the 'Queen', where on 16 Oct he was promoted to Able Seaman
19 May 1919 he returned to 'Victory I' and was invalided out of the Navy 24 July 1919

I think the 31 May 1915 would be the Battle of Jutland
I believe Victory I is onland at Portsmouth

Thank you :) and when he was invalided out of the navy... what would that mean? he was no longer able to perform his duties etc?

I presume so, though the cause if it is on the record you posted eludes me, presumably it's in code in the last column. If I remember rightly someone posted a link to a list of codes ... all we need to do is find it

edit: can't find it but someone did suggest a naval forum which may be helpful http://www.
