Woollcott, Willicott, Topsham Devon

Hi everyone,
I am looking for more information on some family ancestors.
Mary Woollcott, b 1746-1803 md William Willicott 1773 at Topsham, Devon. William was born 1744-1832. Their son also William, was b 1777 at Topsham. He married Ann Chappell. There is no record of his death. His Father William 1744, made a will in 1831, leaving Ann, wife of his late son William, ten pounds. So William Willicott 1777, must have been dead then. I am also looking for earlier Willicotts, and Mary Woollcott's family.
If anyone can help, it would be most appreciated.

Hi Lois, have you read the full will of William former mariner, who
gives & bequeaths to Ann Willicott, widow of my late son William & to their children William 'Doury'? [Dowdney], Mary & Martha Philippa. & goes on to mention G'Children.
Proved at London 25th May 1832 by the oath of Thomas Willicott son of the [..] executor to whom admin was granted, having been 1st sworn by Canon duly to administer.
Bapt/Births of these children may help to find Williams death.

FindmyPast have a lot of parish register images for Devon on their website. It is pay per view but could be worth you doing a free search to see if any are applicable to you. They do have images for Topsham but I cannot see a baptism for a Mary WOOLLCOTT or variants there, although there is one at South Molton in 1745 - can't give you details I'm afraid because of their terms & conditions. William's baptism in 1777 is there, a Presbyterian non-conformist baptism. The only likely baptism I can find for William snr is one in 1743 at Stokeinteignhead.

Yes, I have Wendy. It was very informative, and helped get a lot of things right, so we were lucky there. The Grandchild William Henry mentioned was my late husbands Great Grandfather, the late William and Ann, his Great x2 Grandparents. The writer of the will his Great x3 Grandfather. William was a Mariner, and I wonder if he died at sea. How do I go about finding out?

Thank you Janet about Mary Woollcott. I had seen the birth in South Molton, and wondered if it were the same person. Hadn't picked up on the one for William Snr. There again, I wondered if they had come from another part of England, as the burials at Topsham for Willicotts only started in 1832 with William Snr, and his Grandson Thomas George who died later that year. I do belong to FMP so I will look it up. Thanks for the tips. If I have trouble, I'll ask you how.

Did he die after his will was proved? or is this another William? or have I missed something,-just out of bed :)
 
Hello Ma-dotcom and Sharon7777. Thank you for your time and trouble. The William Willicott who died 30 Jan 1843, was born in 1842, the son of William Henry Willicott and Esther Martin. I think the will was written in 1831, and proved after his death April 1832. There is another will listed for 1838, it doesn't exist, I tried to get it. The word not clear was Henry, for William Henry Willicott, the Father of William who died in 1843. The will was hard to read, or the writing was in some parts.
