annabel

Puts the Heart into Hertfordshire
Can anyone read what it says under the date? Its for the marriage of Abraham Ingle and Frances Flint. I'm hoping it's a clue as to why she doesn't state her father, which is very odd as her parents were married and she lived with them in 1841Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 08.10.09.png

I cheated I looked it up on Anc. and it is written on the other three entries on the page for 30th Nov. and some of them are easier to decypher :D

Annabel - could Frances have been under age? She states of full age but if she was a minor she could have left her father's name blank to disguise the fact - just a thought;)

Yes she was 18. But she calls herself a minor on the certificate so she does seem like she was worried about it?

1841:
Class: HO107; Piece: 446; Book: 1; Civil Parish: Ashwell; County: Hertfordshire; Enumeration District: 1 2 3; Folio: 8; Page: 11;

Have you seen the probate report on her Father William Flint who died in 1847 naming her-Frances Hannah Bailey Ingle ( wife of Abraham Pryor Ingle) of 4 Hills St. Peckham? Probate left unadministered by widow Elizabeth Flint-relict.
She has stayed with a birth year of 1827+- 2 over the years.

Perhaps Frances had a falling out with her Father & didn't wish to name him.

Whoops missed that.
If you look at the other entries there are quite a few errors ie the groom signing in the space for the words 'parish church' which suggests that the form was filled in at a later time. Perhaps, when it came to writing up the page they found they had not recorded her father's name. It is shame we can never know, it could have been deliberate on Frances's part or just a clerical error.
