I have been advised that I shouldn’t fly anymore, so have packed away my broomstick :D and now take cruises instead. Most enjoyable and much less hassle, I must say!

One of the things that I have discovered that happens on cruise ships is that some people hide little yellow ducks in various places around the ship. The ducks are often decorated and may even have the name of the person who hid the duck. This helps to identify the hider on any social networking pages devoted to such things.

The tradition apparently started in 2018 when a 10-year-old girl by the name of Abby hid ducks on a family holiday to make other passengers smile. As a consequence, today, 13th January is known as National Rubber Ducky Day in the USA. :D

By the way… I have yet to find one… :(

There is a similar craze with children currently - you buy tiny ducks (packs of 30-50, from the well known 'River' site) and the children hide them at school and clubs, transport, etc for others to find.
All my granddaughter wanted for Christmas was a pack of these little (about an inch tall) ducks to hide. At the moment those she has found are her prize possessions :) .

Then we get to Izzy dolls. Little hand knitted dolls left around for others to find to take home.
Oh, we have little knitted angels. These came to the fore during lockdown 2020 - I found one dangling in a tree and left it in case someone needed it more than me.

I have yet to try a cruise. I no longer have self-confidence to fly given medical issues. However, I really am prone to sea-sickness! - the furthest I've been is Venice and I spent most of that astern, and, well... I think cruise ships are a lot more stable nowadays. ;) Rubby Ducky reminds me of 'Big Bird' in Sesame Street.
