I am confused (not unusual). I have the will of an ancestor who died in 1780 but the name says Joseph Rawling. He mentions his daughter Rose Bramham wife of Joshua Bramham. Now my confusion arises from Rose and Joshua's marriage because the document names her as Rose Rawdin. Rose's baptism names her father as Joseph but surname spelled Rawden (sigh). The dates and locations are spot on. Is this likely phonetically (mis)spelt +/- a transcription error? It's from the England, Prerogative and Exchequer Court of York Wills 1389-1858 on Ancestry, so not the actual will itself. Would it be worth buying a copy of the actual will from the Borthwick Institute archives? I am accepting it as the correct one as the coincidence of him naming Rose and her husband correctly in the will is too much of a coincidence but I just wanted a second opinion.....
