Hi All

Had severe problems with PC for months but back on now My uncle
Alfred Smith DoB 1917 Derby was in the army WW2 but which regiment ??
He Married a Lillian Morris in Bury 1946 and lived there my question is did they have any children, I cannot find any answers at all would have helped if I had a regimental number but that's Murphy's law in family fact finding

If Alfred & Lillian lived in Bury all their lives, according to the GRO Indexes they don't appear to have had any children. Of course they may have moved away for a while and any child(ren) may have been registered elsewhere.
 
Thank you so much been looking and could not find anything ,
I am now trying to find which regiment he was in he would have enlisted in Derby 1939 onwards but no luck so far thanks again
 
It is difficult with WW2 records as not many of them are available yet. They are still with the MOD if you google you should find the address. There is a form to fill in it costs I think about £35 - but not too sure. You need to state what relative it is. I too have looked for births in the Bury area but can't find anything. How sure are you of marriage date and where they lived?

thank you for the reply they were married 4th qtr 1946
being where they lived we never had a lot of contact with them if any
now all but one of the family have passed on and his memory has faded with time this was why I was searching
