Ann Wade was born in 1816 to parents James Smith and Ann Smith (Dring).

In the 1841 Census Ann Wade, age 25 and her daughter Anne, age 6 were living with her parents James and Ann Smith, in Long Brackland, Bury St Edmunds.

I assume that Anne Smith had married hence her name and daughter as Wade.

After 1841 I have failed to find any further details in FMP or Census.

Can anyone assist with filling in more of her details after 1841?

    Thanks

There is a William WADE & wife Anna in the 1861 census of Bradfield St George with various children (RG9/1137, folio 34, page 8) who could perhaps be the parents of the Anna WADE Wendy found for you. If so, the children in the census record are shown on the GRO Index with the mother's maiden name being GOLDSMITH. Just found them in the 1851 census of Bradfield and daughter Anna is with them shown as their eldest child. Haven't had much luck tracing your Ann nee SMITH after the 1841 census so far, I'm afraid.

    Hi Janet,

Over the years I've searched on FMP and Ancestry plus Family Search. Maybe Ann Smith never legally married and just took the name Wade.(I have a relative on my Fathers side who, in 18thC, took the name of the Father of her child but never married) If Ann was commonly using the name Wade then I couldn't find any death between 1841-1851 and no Census for 1851.
So for now, it looks as if Ann will have to remain a mystery.
