A new member to this site, I've been researching my family (and others) for over 40 years. It all started after a cousin decided he wanted a family crest and he needed to prove that he wasn't related to anyone with the same surname (Barker) who already had a crest. He produced a booklet covering his family history and that set my brother off researching our lot. Everything went well until he discovered that there were at least three generations of John Williams after our great grandfather!
My brother used a card index system that was quickly getting out of hand. I computerised his work and gathered more information in various forms and added to our tree. I soon got hooked on research and haven't looked back. Well, that's not true! Of course I've looked back, that's the whole point!
Anyway, I built my own websites and they brought in more information and now I've lost count of all the family trees and projects that I have worked on while still slogging away on the immediate relations.
I am originally from a small village called Aberdyfi in Gwynedd - although it's still Merionethshire to me! We have a large number of seafarers, quite a few master mariners and my grandfather sailed around the world twice. Me? I prefer walking!

when the research bug bites it hangs on for dear life.
