George ? and Ann C ??? or E ??? both of this parish ? married by banns on the ???? and that's it I'm afraid. So far for me anyway. Unless you can find someone to clean it up for you!

Is it Ann Creighton?
No, don't think it's Creighton. Could start with an E.

Thanks AM. I don't see it as Creighton but I am not sure that I am seeing what I want see!

I do have his full name George Rixson but was hoping someone else could see that too. Maybe this version is better.George Rixson & Ann Colegate marriage.jpg

It does look like George's surname starts with a P or R, but that's the best I can offer right now. If it is any consolation, I do see more each time I look so I will try again later ...

I could see the capital R, but the x looked like a z to me, after which I could only see what I thought was an e. But didn't say any of this as I simply wasn't sure enough. :D

1741 George ? and Ann Colegate both of this parish were married by banns 5th ? ?(could be signature) rector

I am totally confused with the date bit apart from 1741:confused: I agree that part of the writing after the 'married by banns' bit could be the rectors signature as I think the last word on the line is Rector.

I haven't looked at this family for some time and I notice, again, that 5 of their 6 children died within, at the most, 3 months of their birth. If the only surviving child hadn't survived then I wouldn't be here!!!!!:eek:

Just googled both names and a marriage of 18th May 1741 comes up on someone's tree, but I can't access the information.
