1869 Susannah Martin in Workhouse 'in labour' along with dtr Celia A. b. 1861. Husband Henry died 1861
1869 Birth of Georgina Martin -18 Jan.?
1871 Susannah Martin with 'spouse' George Martin & two dtrs Celia A. 9[Celida on Anc.] & Georgina 2
Susannah died in 1872. George not found after this time.
1881 Georgina found in Darenth, Kent institution- an imbecile. also 1891. Not found with certainty after that year, but evidently Darenth didn't like to keep them after 16 yrs of age.
Sister Celia married in 1892 but 1911 finds her with husband at No 19 Parkshot, Richmond, also in institution- a lunatic. Brookwood Woking.
One other sister survived to marry & have family.

Was there a problem in this family or with the men involved with this family?

My time clock has just told me to go to bed but I wanted to post this first in hope some one can add anything helpful.

I've not found a comparable death for Georgina, If anyone can find any news of her I'd be most grateful.
Pardon my post & run but I've spent much of the day searching for these people.

Oh how I wish that was my Celia Anna. My Lass married Henry Kemp (St. John's Church Richmond,) who was evidently from Sussex & previously married to Anne Chalk in Kensington. She died in 1889 Richmond S.
Celia's father on wedding papers was Henry a 'tanner' so correct.
Thank you all for trying.
I did wonder if 'George Martin' was his real name as I had been unable to find him before or after 1871. There was a lot of them about tho'.

p.s. I did find a Georgina Martin after 1881 in the workhouse taken there from Mrs 'someones' house- perhaps a servant, but wasn't convinced as there were a few Georginas about also.

I couldn't leave this alone nor Georgina unfound so went looking at Asylums etc. Bear with me if you have a few idle minutes to follow Georgina's rather sad young life, although it would appear she did leave Darenth soon after 1891 as shown in a snip later.

1881 - 1891 Georgina in Darenth asylum, Kent. Possibly because she didn't fit the required niceness expected at Clapton. It's children were moved to the new buildings at Watford as a more healthy environment.
They liked children/orphans from decent people/those who were married. :( Then again by this time she may have had actual mental problems caused by her unstable life.
Georgina Martin no known cause but listed in red as Homeless & w'house born.

Thanks Sis, it's difficult as written by different people I guess & one more hurried than the other. The 2nd one appears to have a letter before the upstroke one. I tried a few 1891 censuses but no real luck & by then eyes were complaining.

Well found Wendy - sad life:(

Georgina may not have had mental problems, she could have been a Downs child, had epilepsy or any manner of problems that we would not call inbecile today. As for Celia, I do wonder if the entry, made by her husband was just spite or that he inability to have a living child had caused some depression. My uncle's (by marriage) mother was put in an instution after having babies that did not survive (he was the only one), she was probably just suffering from post natal depression but from a young woman remained in there all of her life. He was raised by an aunt. This was in the 1920's:(

I take it these are 2 separate entries? I see initials:

1 - "From Home of M A B G S"
2 - "From. Home M.A.B.G.S." or "M. A. Bdgs" (buildings?)
Could it be an abbreviation?
Jane

Clever girl Jane, so well could be. Where in she was a servant or at least lived there. she was admitted on the order of Mr Vallance, who ever or from wherever he was, no I shall not look for him. ;)

Oh have just scrolled down to Jan's entry. What a Bonza Lass you is Jan. I'd given up logical thinking some hours ago. Thank you.

@MollyMay , so could be the truth. Her Mother Susannah had 4 children who didn't live past 1 year before the other girls came along. No knowing if the other children heard of them or not.
Re-Georgina perhaps she didn't leave the institutional life after all, but if Portsea death is hers-mayhap she did, eventually.
Georgina would have been my 1st cousin x 3 removed.
