Deciphering a name from a Canadian Marriage Certificate

I've been sorting through children/G'Children of Emily hoping to connect to an Annie(Nancy) down to Andrew Thomas son , who married an Annie Craddock 1903 in Paddington.
Must stop for a time doggies due at Vet's early.

I'm sorry, my meanderings proved Nancy-less.
After trying FreeBMD censuses - children of children, Iwas no further on apart from learning quite abit about the Jackman Family in Buck's. Even wandered off with a different Family into Canada & back who proved to be onetime neighbours or friends of the Jackman Family in Bucks. Still no obvious Nancy.

Not knowing her approximate age when your Mother met her is also a handicap. I worked on a probable birth year from 1900-1910ish. she may have been younger, working from 1949 & your mother thinking it was not their own daughter.

I'ts been a full of interest day but no rewards. Short of plowing through Canadian records, don't quite know where to try next.

Thank you Wendy for your efforts, I've also found the Jackmans to be very interesting, on another forum site I had some assistance with Emily and found her in the 1861 census (Transcribed as Louise!) living in Dunstable Bedfordshire a servant in a Drapers shop.

As I grew up in Dunstable from age 2 until I married age 22 - having been born in Sheffield where my fathers family are all from, and my mothers family all in Bournemouth, none of us had been near Bedfordshire, this was one huge coincidence Emily being my GG-Grandmother!

This branch is full of twists and turns, and is most fascinating!

What about this lady? Nan Beryl Ada Holt..She was a single secretary in 1959 and arrived in England with a destination of London. She had an Australian passport and was traveling from S.Africa.

Hi Sue

Yes I thought they look alike as well, but I haven't found a child from before the marriage. Annie & her mother Emily are in the UK in Clapham in 1911 running a boarding house, no "younger" Holts with them. I haven't found Annie in 1901 yet, Emily and husband John are in Mountnessing Essex with their eldest single daughter Ada who died 1910.

I haven't come across Nan Beryl Ada Holt, I've had a quick look on free bmd and there's rather a lot of Nancy Holt's, maybe some more investigation needed there. I haven't yet found anyone who's gone to Australia, only the other way to Canada & the US.

The hunt continues!

1901 have her born in 1877, but it does say Canning Town which the 1911 says. RG13/99/14/12
HOLT, Annie
Address: 86, Thatched Arhed House Club, St Jas Street, St James Westminster
She is a still room maid ( whatever that waso_O )

Ooh it's like looking at Annie from back then. I also saw Sue's Nan among so many others, I did leave it because of the Australia bit & so many still to look through. Just woke up so need to finish that before more thinking. Just found a 'bee' in my bed, (hoping it wasn't a young wasp) so am feeling a bit sweet this morning :)

Ooh!!!!!! There's a photo of Achille on Ancestry's 'Washington, Naturalization Records, 1904-1991 for Achille Casimir Ragazzoni'

Ann Elizabeth also states she has NO children (Washington, Naturalization Records, 1904-1991 forAnn Elizabeth Ragazzoni)

Border Crossing - Canada to US.

Achille Ragazzone, arr. Sept 1913 from Victoria B.C. Born abt 1883 in B.C. Race: Italian, occupation: Waiter.

Achille (29) sailed from Glasgow on the ship Pretorian, arrived Montreal 15 Oct 1912.

Maybe he was a ship's waiter.

Achille departed Glasgow 5th Oct 1912, he gives his country as being Switzerland, may be his parents were Italian Swiss.

British Columbia, Canada, Death Index, 1872-1990
Cassimir Henry Ragazzoni, born abt 1859, died 22 Jun 1887, age 28, Victoria.

Achille and is sister were both very young when their parents' died; I wonder who took care of them?

Wonder if Nancy is Wilhelmina Macdonald's grand daughter. May be W. had a child before marrying Casimir who would be Achille's step sibling, and Nancy is Wilhelmina's grand daughter.

Wilhelmina remarried in Victoria on 6 Dec 1888, to America Bossi.

Achille and Matilda are with Wilhelmina and Americo on the 1891 Canadian census, they're listed as Bossi.

Americo V Bossi 30, Italy
Wilelmina Bossi 28, Scotland
Achille Bossi 8, stepson,
Matilda Bossi 6, stepdau

Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 for Wilhelmina Bossi

Wilhelmina Bossi, married, age 42, occ. H. keeper

Travelled from B.C to New York on the 'St Paul'

The above passenger list says her last country of permanent residence was Switzerland, may explain why I'm having no success finding the family after 1891.
