Deep British roots

Hi, I am new to this forum. My tree has branched out into Great Britain with an interesting line that I am piecing together with difficulty. Mid 1700-mid 1800's East India Company ship owners etc. based in London, Caribbean, and eventually Philadelphia.
The surnames are EWER and SWORD. I purchased letters between these 2 cousins written in the 1700's and it seems the families originated in Scotland, near Glasgow.
I'm at a dead end trying to find the next generation back from these guys.

Welcome Peggy.

If you can post a query with more detailed information in the relevant section of the forum hopefully someone will be able to assist you. :)

Welcome, Peggy! C|:-) You have found a fun and friendly place full of folks just happy to help with your research. :)

Welcome to the forum, Peggy. As folk have said, there are lots of willing hands who can help. Post your questions in the relevant part of the forum - perhaps start in the London section - we can always move it if it starts to travel. :)

Welcome to the Forum, Peggy. Quite a few SWORD baptisms in Glasgow from the mid 1700's onwards, but only one EWER baptism that I have found so far. He is a John EWER baptised in 1759 son of Patrick EWER & Joanna nee LEGAT - do these names feature in what you already know? As everyone else has said, post what you have in the appropriate section and see what transpires.

Janet
