(I have no certs to back it up)

I have searched FreeBMD for 'all types' Sheila E TENCH

Having found only 3 occurrences of that name here they are;

Sheila E TENCH birth was registered in Knighton in the March qtr 1911

Marriage for Sheila E TENCH to Harry WALTON in Mere, Wiltshire in Jun qtr 1940

Marriage for Sheila E WALTON to Edward L J MIDDLETON in Clun, Shropshire in Sep qtr 1947

This last marriage also has Edward L J MIDDLETON marrying Sheila E TENCH

Would I be safe in assuming that these are all the same Sheila?

If so what happened to Harry?

It could well be a possible.

There are a number of deaths for a Harry WALTON between the years of 1940 to 1947, although none were in either Shropshire or Wiltshire that I can see.

However, there was also a war going on for the large part of this time span and so he may have been killed whilst serving.

Or.... they divorced.

You could look for Harry's (Henry/Harold ...) death on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site:

http://www.
cwgc.org/find-war-dead/how-to-find-a-casualty.aspx

although he might have died in his bed, of course, or even in some-one else's.

If for your Knighton site Chimp, you are bringing a lot of pleasure to alot of people, some of whom don't know it yet! {-(^^)-}
Yes, Wendy, it is for my site. As long as it helps someone along the way ~I'll be happy.

Checked there last evening, there's a few of them around. Couldn't find one that matched though. Thanks for suggesting it :) Knowing me I usually wouldn't have thought of looking in the most obvious place :(

I have now received the marriage certificate for Sheila Elizabeth Walton.

(when I was researching this the other day I posted on Facebook on the Clun page. I asked if the information I had gathered was right. I had several replies from one bloke. I asked if I had the correct details on who the couple were and his reply was "na wrong". I was taken aback by his reply, no "sorry but that's wrong", just "na wrong" and then he went. I was a little disgruntled so deleted my post and ordered the cert)

So Mr "na wrong"............. na right (I do wish I hadn't deleted the post. I would have loved to have gone back on there and gone NER, NERDY, NER, NER. I know it's childish but it's also very satisfying :D )
