Does AEIUY mean anything?

Our very own Cornish Maid
There is a slate slab on a tomb (so I suppose it is a tombstone?) in St Denys Churchyard that reads (with difficulty!) of 2 Samuel SOLOMONS. Both died 1806 - ages 35 & 4.

There is a lot of script, then at the bottom - the words WILLIAM SOLOMON - a large space - Aged 30 (could be 50) Years - another large space - A E I U Y

Does that ring a bell with anyone?
I'm beginning to think it might be graffiti? (Maybe a young William Solomon was sitting on the edge, armed with a sharp stone, got bored ...).

The pic is too large to download (here we go again!). I'll have a go at downsizing and will post separately.

On the phone keyboard, but here goes...

Google translate has the Greek letters for a e i o u y with the meaning "forever."

Remove the O, and an article about the Morse code pops up with shortcuts of vowels as dots except O is a dash.

Helpful? Probably not.

There are evidently persons on facebook with the name Aeiuy.
Irfanview didn't really help, just made the letter 'I' look like something other than.
